New York State Department of Health
Health Research, Inc. supports and extends major initiatives of the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH). HRI's core mission is to assist the New York State Department of Health to effectively evaluate, solicit, and administer external grant funding and financial support for Department of Health projects, and to disseminate the benefits of scientific expertise through programs such as technology transfer.
Roswell Park Cancer Institute
The mission of Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) is to understand, prevent and cure cancer. RPCI, founded in 1898, is a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center. HRI provides a widerange of support for RPCI, including sponsored research administration and technology transfer. The affiliation dates to 1953 and has contributed to major cancer treatment advances such as the PSA test (prostate specific antigen) and photodynamic cancer therapy.
Trudeau Institute
The Trudeau Institute is an independent, not-for-profit, biomedical research organization, whose scientific mission is to make breakthrough discoveries leading to improved human health. The Trudeau Institute and HRI participate in a unique partnership aimed at advancing the commercialization of medical and scientific discoveries made at the institute.
Helen Hayes Hospital
Helen Hayes Hospital is a leading comprehensive research and teaching hospital specializing in rehabilitation medicine. HRI provides support to Helen Hayes' research programs and clinical trials aimed at identifying new approaches to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis, spinal cord injury and brain injury among others.
Wadsworth Center
The Wadsworth Center is the research intensive public health laboratory of the New York State Department of Health. HRI assists the Wadsworth Center in funding scientific investigation and research aimed at improving public health through science. The affiliation has contributed to the development of medical diagnostics, disease treatments and devices including a novel HIV tropism test, Angiomax and a communication device for ALS patients.
New York Structural Biology Center
The New York Structural Biology Center (NYSBC) is the nation's premier center for structural biology with unrivaled facilities for Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMR), Cryo-electron Microscopy (CEM), and X-Ray Crystallography. NYSBC's research facilities include state-of-the-art instrumentation for analyzing proteins and other molecules that trigger disease, such as bacterial and viral infections; disease and neurodegeneration; and trauma. Health Research, Inc. is a sustaining member of the NYSBC.
