Dear PIs and Administrators,

There are multiple minimum hourly rate increases scheduled to be effective across NYS based upon location as of December 31, 2017.  In order to minimize confusion, to prevent a violation of the law as work locations change, and to ensure that hourly employees doing the same entry level work across multiple locations are paid at least the same minimum hourly rate, HRI is establishing one minimum hourly rate of $13.00 per hour. This change will be effective December 31, 2017.

Of the approximately eighty hourly employees, only three needed a slight adjustment to reach this new threshold. HRI’s Office of Sponsored Programs has been in contact with those Principal Investigators to implement this change.

Under HRI’s Affirmative Action Plans, there is still a requirement to pay an appropriate hourly rate based upon the duties to be performed. Please note that this change impacts only entry level hourly work assignments.
