Dear PIs and Administrators,

For NIH applications with due dates starting on 5/25/16, please use NIH ASSIST to prepare and submit those applications. We have encountered an issue transmitting the newly released “FORMS-D” NIH grant application via email from DOH to HRI. In order to circumvent this issue, we can take advantage of NIH’s established interface, ASSIST (Application Submission System & Interface for Submission Tracking). (HRI/DOH are working to resolve the issue with email as well.)

There are many benefits to using ASSIST; both DOH and HRI can work on an application simultaneously, many administrative fields are pre-populated from eRA Commons, and there are additional validation checks to help avoid errors.

In the Parent R01 Announcement (or any NIH FOA), you will see two buttons:

Click on “Apply Online Using ASSIST”. You will use your exising eRA Commons Username and Password to log on and follow the simple instructions provided.
